Easter 1st of April - 31st of May

Easter is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Crete, it marks the end of 40 days of fasting, on Saturday, people go to the church and light candles, they walk home with the lighted candle that signifies the holy Jerusalem fire. On reaching their homes, they burn a cross black with the candle for good luck, the cooking for the Easter celebrations continue till Monday.

Burning of Judas Celebrations 11th of April

The burning of Judas Celebrations are carried out on Easter Sunday, though not by all villages, many villages celebrate by burning the effigy of Judas, men and women ride on their donkeys collecting stick and branches and is part of the Easter celebrations in many villages.
